One of the favorite things to do during a Barcelona visit is finding places which alow you to enjoy a panoramic sight. Parc Güell is probably one of the most popular locations to take your Barcelona photo from a birds view. We want to recommend you great alternatives to have truly rememberable moments and new perspektives on our beautiful city. At some of the suggestions you will not only get the fantastic view but also great food! 😉
Terraza Martinez on Montjuic – here you get it all: the view, a stylish but casual bar & restaurant and a fantastic Paella. You can even book a chofer to take you home after a great night… One option is a set menu with a bottle of vermut (for 2 persons), olives, russian salad, mussels with citrus, salad, paella (5 different types), desert, wine and coffee for 35 €/person.
Bar Mirablau on Tibidabo – one of the most romantic views over the town and a real classic, ideal for a sunset drink and to watch the city lights – don´t go there for the food, the service is rude and prices are steep – but what a view!! You can take the Tramvia Blau to get there, this unique, historic blue tram from 1901 adds some San Francisco feeling to your experience.
Tibidabo mountain top – if you want to be even closer to heaven you should take the funicular train after exiting the Tramvia Blau to take you all the way to the top. The “Church of the Sacred heart” on top can be seen from most locations in town. The church is crowned by a Jesus statue with open arms, reminding a bit of the one in Rio. You can take a lift to the top of the church and check out the city at 575 meters above sea level! There is also an over 100 year old amusement park, with a nostalgic feel and great views, but don´t expect any breathtaking rollercoaster!
Grill restaurant “Can Marti” for a lunch with great view and traditional, simple barbecue. The rustic setting is like being in the countryside. It´s not easy to access, but if you enjoy a good walk and like to eat meat, grilled on an open fire – this is a great choice to explore!
La Rotonda cafeteria at Plaza Catalunya – almost a secret outlook as it´s located unexpectedly on the 9th floor of “El Corte Inglés”, a big department store. The cafeteria is a typical and noisy self-service place, reminding of an autogrill, but there is a calm restaurant section directly at the windows offering lunch menues. Probably the best view overlooking Plaza Catalunya and very easy to access.
Restaurant Torre de Altamar – situated in an old cable car tower in the Barceloneta area directly at the sea and offering spectacular 360º views. The elegant establishment and views have their price and the bill for a 3 course dinner with wine can easily reach 150 € for two. Our tip: the 5 course lunch menue for 39 € including a drink. Recommended for a special occasion.
Teleferic cable car – starting from the above mentioned tower. Instead of visiting the restaurant you can take a fun ride with a cable car over the sea up to the Montjuic mountain! One way ticket 11 €, return ticket 16,50 €.
La Caseta del Migdia open air bar – once you are on Montjuic mountain you could go for a little hike and find this truly hidden and fantastic spot. Even many locals don´t know it! 😉 “La Caseta” is nestled between pine trees in a vast public park and overlooks the sea and industrial harbour. The surroundings, the canvas folding chairs and the ambient music (often with live DJ) create a relaxed Ibiza like atmosphere. Check the website for schedules (limited opening hours) and specials – for example on Wednesdays “Sardines and Rumba”. Best spot to escape the summer heat of the city and savour a chilled beer.
Eclipse lounge bar and night club – rise high and get up to the 26th floor of 5star Hotel W. If you want an exclusive night out with cocktails, dancing and incredible views on Barcelonas night skyline – this is the place to be. Prices are high and there is a dress code.
Sagrada Familia towers – the most famous landmark of Barcelona, Antoni Gaudis masterpiece offers also one of the most spectacular views over the city. You can purchase your ticket for the entrance and the elevator to access the tower directly online on the Sagrada Familia site. You can choose between the Nativity tower and the Passion tower.
