Tapas are an important part of Spanish lifestyle and translates into ‘cover’. It all started from the days when a slice of cured ham was placed over a glass of sherry to keep the flies away. These days the variety of dishes available is huge and very tasty. There are some great little tapas bars to check out around Barcelona and you’ll also get Pintxo’s which are similar to tapas but typically small slices of bread with various toppings. They arrive on cocktail sticks, and when it comes to paying the bill the waiter simply adds up the number of sticks on the table to calculate the price.
