There is an unbelievable selection of clothes shops in the city of Barcelona and people come here on weekend trips armed with a credit card and empty suitcase looking for something different to take home. Whether you like the cheaper, younger Spanish brands or the international fashion houses you can find anything in this diverse city where shopping is a popular pastime not only for visitors but also the locals. There are also plenty of small, individual places selling obscure things like feathers and buttons - check out the front of the shop-houses as some of them in the Old City date back decades. Many visitors prefer to stay in self catering apartments in Barcelona as they offer value for mney and you can come and go as you like, just like home! The Raval is one area that specialises in trendy young designs and has numerous art and craft galleries as well as skateboard shops, while the Born has some interesting menu’s and a host of flourishing fashion designers. La Rambla and the Barri Gòtic are the best places for some souvenir shopping, and if you like shopping in malls then head to Poblenou as it has all the high-street names you’d find in any European city.
