public transport

There are 5 main ways to travel around Barcelona, invest in the Barcelona card and get free unlimited travel on the metro underground, buses and trams in the city centre. The metro is clean and punctual with air-conditioning, and goes to most of the tourist attractions and sights, although the city is small enough to walk around the metro saves your tired legs, is particularly useful if you have young children, and stops you getting hot and bothered in the summer months. Barcelona Ramblas apartments are central and spacious enough for families or groups of friends travelling together. The card also gives big discounts on entry tickets to the city’s popular attractions, you can walk right past the queues and don’t even have to try and speak Spanish whilst trying to explain where you want to go! Buses are also clean and efficient serving the city centre and taxis are an affordable alternative with the price dictated by the meter. Many visitors choose to walk as most of the popular sights are located in the central areas. Walking also gives you the opportunity to admire the magnificent architecture.
