ciutadella

The Parc de la Ciutadella is free to enter and it’s easy enough to spend the whole day there, even the weekend if you like! There’s heaps of things to do and it’s a great place for anyone who wants to escape the busy streets for a while. The kids have the zoo to entertain them, as well as the Natural History Museum, waterfalls and cafes, and a boating lake. Right in the centre of the park is the stylish building where the Catalan Parliament is based. Sunday is a busy day as families come to picnic and walk the dog, but with 30 hectares of beautiful parklands to explore you can easily find some space for yourself. A great way to explore the park and the city is to book into Barcelona apartments for a few days, bring the family and save money by cooking for yourself in the fully-equipped kitchens. In the summer the park organises all kinds of concerts and the warm summer evenings are perfect for relaxing. You’ll see some interesting statues and sculptures around the park too, look out for a group of leaping deer, the huge stone mammoth, a metallic cat and the statue commemorating General Cascada Prim.
