Barcelona Sales starts on January 7 – Shopping time!

Shop til you drop – Barcelona is a very popular destination for shopping enthusiasts. One of the reasons are for sure the accessible prices for the Spanish clothing brands like Zara (Inditex Group) and Mango. Zara copies all new trends and designs from fashion designers right from the catwalk almost immediately. Other shops which belong to the Inditex group are Stradivarius, Bershka and Pull & Bear for a younger target group and Massimo Dutti for high quality clothing. Some Zara shops include as well a Zara Home section with home textiles and stylish decoration.

These shops offer their range already for very attractive prices, but the real highlight is always the rebajas (sales) in Summer and after Christmas. According to the Spanish Tradition the Christmas presents are given to the children on January 6th. Not to miss is the 3 kings parade on the 5th of January – the “Cabalgata” is a beautiful parade through the city center to celebrate the arrival of the 3 kings with the presents. This is why the winter sales start on the 7th of January when all the Christmas and gift shopping is done. There is still plenty of time to wear knitwear and coats and sales starts usually with great offers from 30-50% reduction. If you wait a little longer prices drop down even further to discounts up to 70%. This is not very common in other countries, but sales does not only include season-clothing,  but also non-seasonal articles like jewelery, bags and even electronic devices.

If you want to take home a unique design item you might want to visit the Beatriz Furrest shop in the Born area. This spanish designer does beautiful bags made of soft leather in very original and recognizable designs. If you are in the area you shouldnt miss the jewelery collection of Helena Rohner. The simple and organic designs are just adorable and a perfect present – maybe one to yourself!
