El Raval is a multicultural neighbourhood divided in two parts by the Carrer Hospital.
NORTHERN PART: the most interesting. Popular terraces, cheap (but often delicious) restaurants, and bars next to lounge cafés, alternative boutiques, New
Age book shops, and amazing international exhibition halls.
MACBA : contemporary art museum from the american architect Richard Meier. The MACBA opened to the public on November 28th, 1995
Every year in June, the Sonar festival takes place around the Macba.
Delicious pizzas at the Pizzeria RAVALO carrer Joaquim Costa on Plaça Emili Vendrell, 1. Terrace.

Mercat de la Boquería : beautiful covered market. Artistic piles of fruit, vegetables, fish and seafood (closed on Sunday).
La Paloma : a mythical night club from the early 20th c, rococo ball-room. At 11pm, the elderly dancing to the sound of the brass band give way to the DJs and electronic music. (closed)
SOUTHERN PART: Barri Xinès, former red-light district where many famous artists lived, eg. Picasso.
Palau Güell : from Gaudi , you can only visit the first floor of the Güell palace.
Marsella : absinthe bar, genuine decoration & nicotine patina!
El Cangrejo : kitsch transexual show.

Great information and photos! I would love to go to MACBA, the contemporary art museum from the American architect Richard Meier, I did not get a chance to. I absolutely enjoyed the market, it is truly an experience in itself!
