Sport

Barcelona is a city that eats, talks, and breathes sport and there is plenty on offer since facilities were improved in ’92 when the city hosted the Olympics Games. As well as sports venues and the Olympic stadium there’s also plenty of space in the city's parks and beaches for people to enjoy the sport of their choice. On the beach or along the promenade you’ll find not only people swimming and participating in water sports, but also roller-skaters, cyclists and joggers. The City Council encourages and motivates people to become involved in some kind of sport whether it is on a recreational or professional level, from creating more cycling routes within the city centre and organizing fun runs and various summer activities to providing quality professional facilities. If you are planning on staying in the city then fully equipped Barcelona rental apartments can be booked by the day or the week and offer extremely good value for money. You can’t talk about sport in Barcelona of course without mentioning football and the local team, Barca, is one of the best ranked teams in Europe with FC Barcelona an internationally known sports club. Bullfighting isn’t a great favorite in Catalonia but it is still possible to see it at the Plaza de Toros Monumental de Barcelona.
