Architecture

One of the main reasons people travel to Barcelona is to admire the architecture which can be unique, ecentric and extravagant, but is always original. Amongst the most famous of which is Gaudi's work, respected by architects all over the world as one of the most distinctive and individual techniques ever seen. An influence on many other artists and architects there are traces of his style everywhere. The Gothic Quarter should be the first place you visit if you are limited for time as it’s truly magnificent with buildings dating back as far as the 12th and 16th centuries, ensure you check out the Sagrada Familia, Park Guell and Casa Batlló, all designed and created by Gaudi and true masterpieces. Quality Barcelona Gothic Quarter apartments are comfortable and luxurious and located right in the heart of the district. The Olympics in ‘92 presented an opportunity for modern architects to also show their skills with the Montjuic Telecommunications Tower and the Montjuic Stadium and the Torre Agbar designed by Jean Nouvelhouses hosts the headquarters for Agbar, and is a stunning reinforced-concrete structure, crowned by a glass and steel dome with a facade of 25 different coloured aluminum panels.
